About the research

Every month, billions of women struggle with concentration problems and mood swings. Yet the female brain remains largely a mystery.

To help unravel that mystery, neuroscientist Patricia Clement (UGent - UZ Gent) is researching the influence of the menstrual cycle on the brain. Using MRI scans, she examines how hormonal fluctuations affect brain activity and behavior.

Dr. Patricia Clement is a postdoctoral researcher in the MIRA Neuro research group at Ghent University. Using advanced MRI techniques, she studies the brain throughout life, in health and disease. In addition to topics such as healthy brain aging and early detection of dementia, she studies changes in the brain throughout a woman's life. She helps advocate for more attention and resources to finally learn more about the female body.
