About the research

What if highways became walking and cycling corridors with live music, food trucks, street artists, and beautiful green spaces? What if your train car was transformed into a gym or a comfortable working space to use during your commute? Hannah Hook (UGent) wants to re-evaluate travel, focusing on human well-being.

Hannah Hook
UGent

Stuck in a city defined by urban sprawl and car dependence, Hannah was inspired by social and environmental sustainability to improve cities through active and public travel. Her doctoral research envisions a future where well-being is the focus of mobility decisions. She identifies and optimizes positive experiences during travel that improve satisfaction, such as improving physical/mental well-being, proximity to green space, or socializing.
