🧬 Trillions of bacteria in your gut are sending text messages right now.... but to whom? 🤔 In this short pitch, cancer researcher Niké Guilbert (UGent) talks about her discovery of bacterial "packets" that sometimes leak from the gut into the blood - especially in people with cancer, HIV or chronic inflammation. Niké Guilbert studied bioengineering at Ghent University and specialised in biomedical cell and gene biotechnology. She is currently doing a PhD at the Laboratory for Experimental Cancer Research (UZ Gent), where she studies bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEV) and their role in both cancer and infectious diseases. By combining advanced techniques, she contributes to new medical insights.
